Our Story — The Buckin West

The Buckin West started with a simple idea at the end of 2022.

At the time, I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I’d always known I wanted to build something of my own, but I hadn’t quite figured out what that looked like yet.

One night, while I was playing around with ideas for a western boutique, the name The Buckin West came to me. It was one of those moments where something just clicks.

It’s a bit of a play on the words “the f*ing west” — the way people in the country talk about being out west, working out west, or growing up out in the middle of nowhere. That phrase stuck with me because it perfectly summed up the feeling I wanted this brand to capture.

That feeling of the Australian country life.

I grew up in country Queensland. I didn’t grow up on a farm, but I grew up surrounded by the country lifestyle. Rodeos, pubs, paddocks, dirt roads and long afternoons outside.

Some of my favourite memories are the simple ones. Playing tiggy with cousins after family barbecues, running around until the sun went down, learning to drive a manual sitting on my dads lap, and getting covered in dirt playing outside with the neighbourhood kids.

When I was younger, there was a huge pile of dirt in a block of land next to our house. My neighbour and I used to play on it every afternoon and we called it Uluru, because that’s what it reminded us of. We’d climb it, run around it, and come home covered in dust. Those are the memories that shaped The Buckin West.

This brand is about that feeling. The nostalgia of growing up in the country. The rodeos, the campdrafts, the country pubs, and the people you grow up alongside. The Buckin West isn’t just about clothes. It’s about creating something people can feel part of.

Growing up, I often felt like I didn’t quite fit in. I didn’t find out I had ADHD until I was 24, and for a long time I struggled with feeling different or misunderstood. Because of that, building something that people could belong to became really important to me.

That’s where our message comes from:

Made for the bold ones.

For the people who do things their own way.

For the people who don’t quite fit into the mould.

For the ones who grew up out west, or just wish they did.

Community is everything to this brand.

One day, the dream for Buckin West is bigger than just clothing. I want it to become a place people gather around — a space that feels like a country pub, a general store, and a community hub all rolled into one. A place where everyone feels welcome.

Mental health is also something very close to my heart. In 2019, my family almost lost my brother to suicide. It was one of the hardest things we’ve ever faced, and it changed the way I look at the world. One of my long-term goals for Buckin West is to give back and support organisations like the Black Dog Institute, particularly around men’s mental health. Because no one should feel like they have to go through that alone.

The Buckin West officially launched in November 2025, and right now we’re still in the early stages. We’re learning, growing, and building something from the ground up.

If you’re here now, you’re part of the beginning.

And that means more than you probably realise.

Welcome to The Buckin West.
